NOTE: Requires Control4 OS2.9 or later.

Instructions

This driver allows the installer to create timer configurations. Each of these timer configurations can be applied to a set of light-type devices.

The driver comes with a single Timer Configuration enabled. You can enable additional timer configurations by setting the appropriate ‘Timer X’ property. When a Timer configuration is ‘turned on’, the appropriate fields for that timer configuration are made visible.

When the user presses the physical top button of a Dimmer/Switch/FSC device, the driver:

Optionally, when the button is pressed a second and third time, the driver:

If configured so, when the button is pressed a last time:

If the user presses the bottom (‘Off’) button on the device, the timer is cancelled.

When the timer expires, the device is turned off and the top LED is set back to the device’s “On Color”.

For each Timer Configuration, the following Properties are available (X is the timer ID 1-9):

Timer X

Each Timer can be setup to have 1, 2, or 3 separate timers, with the option to have a ‘Full On’ after the timers.

For example, if “Timer X” is set to “1,2,On”, the first tap will set the first timer length, the second tap will set the second timer length, and the third tap will leave the device on, with no timer to shut it off.

If “Timer X” is set to simply “1”, the top button tap will set the timer going, any additional taps do not change or restart the timer.

Timer X Devices

Each timer can be applied to a set of devices. The supported devices can include most “Light-type” devices, including Gen1 / Gen3 Switch and Dimmer (APD, FPD) devices, and Fan Speed Controllers.

Timer X Times

For each Timer Configuration, the same number of timer durations (‘times’) must exist. i.e. if “Timer X” is set to “1,2”, there must be two times in the “Timer X Times” field. If the “Timer X” field is set to “1,2,3,On”, there must be 3 times in the “Timer X Times” field.

Timer X Units

Timer ‘Times’ can be specified in Seconds, Minutes, or Hours. See below for examples.

Timer X On Color

This should be set to the LED color of the devices. When the timer expires and/or is cancelled by the user pressing the ‘Off’ button on the device, the LED Button color is set back to this color.

Timer X Color 1-3

For each timer ‘Time’, an LED color is set, which indicates to the user that the timer has been started. See below for examples.

Timer X Off Mode

Each timer can either send an ‘OFF’ message to the device when the timer expires, or (to dimmable devices) a RAMP TO LEVEL message, which will ramp the dimmer down over time.

Examples

You could set all bathroom fans to have a short timer (15 minutes or so), and a longer timer for post-shower humidity removal (60 minutes)

Keep closet lights from being left on all day, by setting a single 20 minute timer, with lights ramping off over a minute or two, since most closet visits are short, and ramping the lights off allows the user to restart the timer if necessary.

Setup room fans with a long timer, for example 8 hours, with the ‘On’ option. This way the user can turn their fan on for sleeping, and have it shut itself off in the morning.
