ClarityHD8x8 Serial - TCP/IP Driver. Version 1.06
(c) Copyright 2012, Zektor. All rights reserved.
REQUIREMENTS
This driver works with the Zektor ClarityHD8x8 HDMI switch running firmware 2.01 or above.
SERIAL CONNECTION
The serial connection uses a straight-through, female-male serial cable. The serial cable should be connected to the Control4 Director before binding the serial connection in ComposerPro.
To bind the connection in ComposerPro, select: "A/V Switch", then "Connections" . Then create a connection between the ClarityHD and the Control4 Director.
ETHERNET CONNECTION
The ClarityHD8x8 supports Control4's discovery and auto-identify features (SDDP).
To identify the ClarityHD8x8:
On the front panel, press and hold the 'ENT' key, while holding the 'ENT' key, press the '8' source key -- this is the '8' key just to the left of the 'ENT' key.
ACTIONS
Backup IN/OUT Settings:
After a full power failure all zones are set to input 0 by default (they are disconnected), and the switch will power on. This can be changed by remapping the IN/OUT settings, and then pressing the "Backup IN/OUT" button. The current IN/OUT settings will be saved as the new defaults in the case of a full power failure. This will also use the current power state as the new default (if the unit is turned on when this button is press, the it will turn on after a full power failure).
Backup EDID:
Save the current state of the EDID and HDCP keys -- this includes the "EDID Lock" setting, and the EDID Audio settings.
A few moments after powering on the ClarityHD8x8, all the EDIDs will be read from all powered on zones. This can take a while, and flickering will occur while the EDIDs and Key data are being read. By saving this data in EEPROM the ClarityHD remembers the EDID and HDCP key settings of each zone, even if the zone is powered down when the switch is turned on, allowing for quicker start up times.
Clear EDID:
If you do a complete re-wire, or re-use the switch in another project you may want to clear the saved EDID information, and start from scratch. Clearing the EDID information will only go into effect after the the next power cycle.
List EDID Audio Support:
This will read the EDID audio information from each zone and display it in the Lua Window (under the 'Lua' tab). By pressing this button and then switching to the Lua window, you will see what each zone's audio capabilities are. The number in paranthesis is the number of audio channels supported by the format. The 'Global Audio' setting is the EDID that all sources see. This EDID is created by combining all the zone EDIDs and using the lowest common settings. By using the 'EDID Audio Zone' settings to ignore a zone when bulding this EDID, you can keep zones that support limited audio, from limiting the audio to the rest of the zones.
PROPERTIES
General Properties: These control the overall state of the ClarityHD
* Power: Turn the ClarityHD On/Off, or power it On and lock it (don't allow Control4 to turn it off).
* Front Panel: Allows enabling/disabling the keys on the front panel.
* IR Sensor: Allows enabling/disabling the front panel IR sensor (rear panel IR jack will remain enabled).
* LED intensities: The ClarityHD has 2 levels of LED intensities:
Bright - The level of the display when it is in use.
Dimmed - The level of the display when not in use.
Each intensity can be adjusted from 0 to 100 percent.
* EDID Lock: Some AVRs (Audio/Video Receivers) will modify their EDID's when switching between "power on" and "stand-by", this will cause all attached monitors to blank while a new global EDID is created. By setting this property to "Locked", you can lock the EDID settings, and keep the displays from flickering everytime an AVR changes its power state. Begin by turning on all AVRs, and verifying that each AVR is capable of passing video. Once this is done, set the "EDID Lock" property to "Locked". This will keep the switch from reauthenticating EDIDs each time an AVR is power cycled. Be sure to "Unlock" EDIDs before adding / removing / relocating any equipement.
* EDID Audio Zone 1 through Zone 8: Allows zones to be ignored while building the EDID for sources. If you have zone(s) that only support PCM, you can ignore them and allow Dolby5.1 to pass to the other zones.
LIMITATIONS
At this time, the "Events" that appear in the Programming section, are not supported by Control4. Control4 has informed us that their functionality will be supported in a future Control4 release.
On the front panel:
Press and hold the 'ENT' key.
While holding the 'ENT' key, press the '8' source key. (This is the '8' key that is just to the left of the 'ENT' key.)
